Episode #5x10: Abandon All Hope

So that's it! No new picspams thanks to the hellatus... *sniffle*... but I've still got plans. First off I'm going to update my meta post on Sam's hair . At the moment it covers up to the middle of season 4 and I'm itching to update it to cover this season. *rubs hands together* I'm also probably going to add to some of the older Puppy!Sam picspams. The ones from season 1 and 2 especially are quite short and are looking pretty puny compared to these past few seasons. As soon as I update them I'll post links here. :)

In the meantime, I want to wish my fellow Puppy fans in the States a Happy Thanksgiving! *hugs*

Oh, and a little something else.... not putting this inside the cut because it's not spoilery. But it's been a while since I've made any art (really want to get back into that), and I was so inspired to make this. *g* If any of you guys want to snatch it, it's yours. Just credit me, please. :)

Icons: All from various season 1-4 episodes. Most spoilery one is from #4x21, but that's it. Also a few from the season 1 and 2 gag reels. Most of the gag reel ones I made with GIMP and I'm still learning a lot as far as making icons with it is concerned, so they're not as good as the ones I did with PSP 8. Credit not totally necessary, but very much appreciated.

Little story behind this one... at one of the boards where I post, we were talking about all the bashing, infighting, and the whole crazy Sam vs. Dean thing going on in fandom. One of my friends coined the term "FAILdom" for it. She made a Dean banner, so I decided to make a Sam one. As far as I know, no one is using it, so if you'd like to take it, go right ahead. :) And I don't mean any disrespect by it toward any faction of the fandom; it's meant to be light-hearted (mostly, anyway *g*). First, I got the Supernatural Season 3 Companion in the mail today. Wow... ordered it from Amazon only 2 days ago... that was fast.

I'm so happy for my friends in Europe and the UK who are going to Asylum!! How exciting... both boys and Misha! I hope you have a blast. :)

Found out that most if not all of the guests (except Jared) are going to be at EyeCon Fri and Sat, especially for the cocktail party. I can't wait, it's going to be awesome. Only one week to go!  To anyone who's been there before, I noticed that they have an auction for seats on these big comfy couches up front, as well as a private autograph session (which is with Misha this time).  Where are those couches located? Are they in front of Row A or are they off to the side a ways? Just curious and hoping I won't have a lot of heads blocking my view during the Q&A panels. *g*

Finally I know that many people have already made art based on that Jared photoshoot, but I made some icons that I'd like to offer up as well.  There are 16 icons. If you'd like to take any of them, comments and credit are appreciated. :) Most of them are textless and you can use them for bases if you like, but I'd like credit for the bases.  Hope you like!

Yay!! It's a Friday night and with not much to do, I just came up with my first tutorial!  It's nothing too fancy, just a simple (I hope) coloring tutorial.  I've always been disappointed that a lot of the tuts out there are for Photoshop and include Selective Color.  I've got Paint Shop Pro, so that's not an option. So, I've come up with this tutorial that should hopefully give similar coloring.  And I hope that it helps you guys who are like me and don't have PS.

Anyway, here's what we'll be making:

Today was a blah day. My dog hasn't been herself much and has been pretty much incontinent the past couple of days. Took her to the vet for some tests.  Could have urinary tract infection but we'll know more soon hopefully.  I guess the weather could be part of it (she has been dragging a little... it's humid again).

Went to Best Buy last night and talked to a salesperson.  For an SLR camera he recommended the not-yet-released Canon EOS Digital Rebel XS. Supposed to be a lighter weight entry level SLR but with pretty much the same features as the XSi.  Live View and all that fancy stuff.  Not sure when it'll be released but the salesguy believes within the next month or two.  As long as I have plenty of time to practice before the con in November.

So I finally have some more Stargate artwork. The Sam/Daniel-thon has inspired me again.  So let's see what we have here...

I've been sitting on this art for so long, I never had a free moment to get it all together and post. So, what do I have? A bunch of Stargate SG-1 and Supernatural icons and headers.

The SG-1 stuff is mainly from extra S10 promo pics, and some Ark of Truth promo pics (none that are spoilery). All are Sam/Daniel, except I think there's just one general Daniel icon floating around in there. I also have several headers, again all Sam/Daniel (friendship or whatever else you choose to see it as... they're all made with screencaps from my own collection).

The Supernatural icons are from episodes 1.22, 2.02, 2.18, 3.10, 3.11, and some of the new-old promo pics that have just surfaced. I also have 2 headers from episode 3.10, and several from 3.11 (same design, but different fonts).The pics from episodes 3.10-3.11 are from screencaps by annabeth_fics  (thankies!!). Credit not totally necessary but appreciated. The textless icons can be used as bases, but I'd like credit for the bases if you do use them.

And a big, huge, honkin' warning: If you are a diehard S/J shipper, or a S/J shipper with no sense of humor, I'd advise against clicking on it. Most of the S/J shippers I've met in LJ have been very nice, but I'd just like to be better safe than sorry.

In other news... finally made an animated snow icon that works okay and is under 40kb in size.  It's really tougher to do than I imagined with Animation Shop.  Took a screencap from A Very Supernatural Christmas... I couldn't resist.  Heeeeee. :D  Hopefully it's not too spoilery.  I did make one that would match up with my header a bit more but I have to tweak it a bit to get it under 40kb.  I figured this was a nice one to use in the Christmas season.

Ugh, weather here is awful.  It started hailing this morning, then turned into freezing rain and sleet and snow.  Not sure what it's doing now but it's pretty loud... sounds like sleet possibly.  Supposed to go on until 11pm. 

Had a dentist appt at 3pm which I canceled.  The roads are pretty bad and people out here drive horribly even when the weather is good, so I'm not taking any chances.  Didn't go into work today on account of this, plus the fact that I'm aching something terrible.  Since physical therapy yesterday I've had this awful backache... my right upper back and a bit of my mid back as well.  I think I pulled something in my right thigh too, because that's smarting a bit.  Plus whenever I'm PMSing I get muscle aches anyway, so in some weird way it makes sense.

Arm is fine though, ironically.  I went to the orthopedic surgeon yesterday and was almost embarrassed by how the physician's assistant was acting.  She was amazed at my progress.  She said my posture has improved so much, both shoulders are basically in alignment.  My range of motion, strength and flexibility have all greatly increased as well.  Physical therapist had told me the other day to not let them cut off my therapy yet.  He said I'm about 90% of the way there and he'd like me to get the full 100%, so he would like me to get 4-6 more weeks of therapy.  I told her and she wrote me out a script for more.  I have to go back on January 23rd and she'll probably discharge me then.  So that is some good news.

Oh, question for the icon makers.  I was trying to make an icon with animated snow to match the Supernatural header I have here, but the file size keeps coming out really large.  I should start out by saying that I don't have PS Imageready.  I only have Photoshop Elements at work (and on my laptop), and on my desktop here at home I have Paint Shop Pro and Animation Shop.  Used Animation Shop to make the icon, had 15 frames.  I was making it using this tutorial which I tweaked somewhat for my own purposes.  Whenever I tried to optimize the file in Animation Shop, it ended up being something like 55kb in size.  LJ only lets you have 45kb for a GIF file, apparently.  When I tried to optimize it further, it came out looking really crummy (really basic as far as the colors are concerned).  Unfortunately AS doesn't give you much of choice as far as optimization is concerned. 

Anyone have any tips, pointers, or whatever?

Have 5 new icons to share.  4 are Sam/Daniel and one is MS & AT (can't remember where I found the pic... but it was I believe from this summer's Comic Con).  Two of the S/D ones are from a neat little promo pic from Ark of Truth which I happened to find courtesy of whisper99 and holdouttrout (thanks guys!). 

I've been writing a new fic that is essentially Sam whumpage, with some team friendship and S/D friendship (which may turn into more later on).  Set in very early S7 and mostly me venting about the accident I was in over the summer.  Even though it's been almost 4 months since I was seriously hurt, and I've improved a lot, it does help to write about it... sort of cathartic in a way.  Anyway I am polishing up a first chapter of it and working on a second.  I'll probably wait until I have it all done before I start posting to places like ff.net (if I post there at all... I'm sure I'll get flames again), but I may start posting it here as soon as I get the second chapter all finished.

Anyway here are the icons.  Feel free to use if you like. Credit not entirely necessary but appreciated.
