I got some pretty nice gifts for Christmas, but one in particular that arrived in the mail on Christmas Eve is hard to top:

Try to ignore the fact that I look drugged or something, LOL. Just focus on the gorgeous man next to me. :D

The funny thing is I had emailed Chris at Creation the day before asking about the photos.  Then I headed over to GW and one gal who had the same problem said she'd heard from him, and to tell everyone at GW that their photos will be arriving shortly (something about him doing three different shows at once and he got behind).  I'm just glad that it arrived.  But wow, what timing. *grins*

Anyway, I had a nice Christmas with my family.  On Christmas Eve we went to mass at 4pm, then got some dinner at a nice restaurant/pub called E.B Elliot's.  It's on a seaside strip called The Nautical Mile.  Nice views and the food was good.  The weather wasn't too bad either.  No snow, and not very cold.  Needless to say we didn't have a white Christmas.  It was quite bright out and around 45 F.

Among the gifts I received were a few sweaters, pairs of socks and a pair of gloves.  On DVD I got Doctor Who series 3 and Ghost Hunters season 3 part 1. Got a couple of jazz CD's, ghost hunting book by Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson (from GH), the Supernatural novel "Witch's Canyon"...  um a couple of calendars as well - for my desk at work one with tropical seascapes and for home a Supernatural calendar.  Also got a pack of blank DVD-R discs and a 4GB pen drive for my computer.

Spent Christmas day with my parents, grandmother and uncle.  It was a nice, quiet day for the most part.  I do have some pics to share from Christmas morning... hope I am doing this right:

I hope everyone had a nice Christmas. :)

Alrighty, I found something that has helped me fill in the holes of Michael's Q&A, posted a few other pics from the con, and lo and behold my stupid browser decided to misbehave. After the HUGE post I made, it went back a page and when I tried to get back to this screen, everything was GONE. No recovery of the autosaved drafts for some reason. I am so annoyed. I even posted a query to LJ's support area.

Okay, so trying hard to remember everything that I wrote... (*sighs frustratedly*...it's too late to be doing this but I'm so stubborn that I won't quit until I get it done)... look behind the cuts.

And now here is part two. Only spoilers here are some tiny ones for SGA that Kate mentioned, and a little one regarding the second SG-1 DVD movie Continuum (mentioned by Cliff).

Okay, so I've finally finished editing all my pics so now it's time to post an actual report of the con (though I will include pics also, hee hee).

Obligatory warning: May contain spoilers for Atlantis Season 4.

Have a Happy Halloween!!!

In a particularly good mood today - got a very good report from the orthopedic surgeon's office.  I have some very good strength back in my arm/shoulder, more flexibility and more range of motion.  I have to go back for another checkup in 6 weeks and if all goes well they will discharge me. *dances*

Still making con preparations.  All looks very good for the weekend.  Am excited to be seeing Michael, Paul, Cliff, Jay, and Kate.  And of course all the nice (and equally crazy... hee hee) fellow fans - most from Gateworld - that I met last year.  Again I will try to get some decent pics and a report to share.

MS Online has now posted pics of Michael's appearance at Collectormania in the UK this past weekend... check them out here

Hopefully a little preview of what I can expect this coming weekend at the Creation con in NJ. Not too crazy about those sideburns but I hope he keeps his hair like that... I love the length. :) </shallow mode off>

Speaking of the con, I just got my photo op ticket in an email (form that you have to print, fill out and bring to the con). I am getting excited about this. :) Anyone who has been to a Creation con in the past year or two, and has gotten a photo op with any of the celebs... I have a question. There's a little FAQ in my email about what to expect at the photo op. They say that the actor is seated in a chair. In the photo ops I've seen over the past couple of years, everyone is standing and the celeb has his/her arm around you. The email says they are seated...

So anyone who's gotten the photo ops and the ticket for it in email.. did your email say this also? Were things different when you went, i.e actor stands with you w/arm around you? I guess I am obsessing over this but the reason I ask is because when I went in 2004, both MS and I were seated pretty far away from each other and he had to put his arm around the back of the chair, not me. I felt I was about a million miles away from him *pouts* I noticed the photo ops for the Chicago con were a lot better so I really hope they are this way in NJ too.

Hoping my pictures turn out okay too. In 2004 they were horrible (except for the ones of Don S. Davis in the hotel lobby), last year they weren't much better (except for some pics of Teryl Rothery). One of the gals I met last year is going again and is sitting up front - she volunteered to take pics for me if I gave her my camera. I'm going to see if I can bring a backup camera too... maybe I can get some decent pics while I'm on line waiting to ask a question. I'm going to ask MS if we will see more of the friendship between the original teammates, especially Sam and Daniel, in the movies (thanks for the idea, [info]majorsamfan !).

I'm also going to give him a Daniel drawing I just finished:

My scanner cut off parts of it but it's supposed to say "Thank You for 10 Years of Daniel Jackson". I know Creation says that photo ops are the best time to give gifts, but I know people have given him gifts during the Q&A so I think I will do that just before I ask my question. I know someone gave Teryl Rothery a gift during her Q&A at last year's con.

I am also thinking of bringing my "Authentic Sam/Daniel Rebel" t-shirt but I don't think I want to wear it the day MS appears. I am worried about his reaction to it, LOL ;)

Just heard that Don S. Davis had to cancel his Saturday appearance because he will be filming a movie. I'm happy for him and wish him luck even though it's a shame he had to cancel. I wonder who they will be getting to replace him, or if they will be getting anyone at all this late in the game (Steve Bacic canceled earlier this month and they got Alexis Cruz to replace him... not that it affects me much since he'll be appearing on Fri and I'm going Sat and Sun).

And finally.... (wow I'm long winded this morning... LOL) I have some new artwork to show. Mostly wallpapers and icons, which are mostly Sam/Daniel (the episode series), although I have one Daniel-centric wallpaper. See them behind the cuts...

Wallpapers: 4 x Sam/Daniel; 1 x Daniel )

Icons: 7 x Sam/Daniel )

Feel free to snurch if you like... again credit not necessary but always appreciated. :)

Just found out that Kate Hewlett will be attending the con on Sunday to promote her new play.  It would be cool if David could make it too but just seeing her would be good too.  I wonder how many more guests they are going to add (since this is supposed to be the last con in this area... although [info]strider6 found out from Creation that they are looking for another hotelvenue/whatever in that area for the future, so that sounds promising).  Really hoping that no one will have to cancel.

I've been thinking about this way too much.  I even have a question in mind that I want to ask Michael.  Basically something like this:

"You probably get asked lots of questions about Daniel and Vala, so I thought I'd be different and ask a question about Daniel and Sam.  I was disappointed that the past couple of seasons they didn't interact very much.  Amanda Tapping has said that she missed the Sam and Daniel interaction in S9 and 10, that they've always had such a nice friendship.  I was wondering, do you think that, at the end of the day, they are still as close friendship-wise as they've been in seasons past? And might we have any friendship moments to look forward to in the movies?"

What do you guys think? Do you think I can get away with asking a question like this without him ridiculing or making some incest crack (even though it's only a friendship question)?  I'm not trying to diss him or anything when I say this, but it just seems like the "cool" thing nowadays is Daniel and Vala, and I'm worried that if anyone asks a question about Daniel and any other woman, even if it involves only friendship, that it will be greatly mocked or something.  I had to laugh because a while back I was reading a report from the Chicago con, and he was asked lots of Daniel/Vala questions, and someone had asked how many women Daniel has kissed on the show.  There was some audience participation and at one point he said "Did he ever kiss Carter? No..."  I don't know if he has a selective memory or just totally forgot, but that wasn't true because he did kiss her in 2010.  Unless he's talking about some wild, passionate kiss.  Another thing that sort of made me laugh when reading the report is that last year I was told by many people that Michael just doesn't like any shipping/slashing on the show, yet he didn't seem to have any problem whatsoever with all the Daniel/Vala questions.

I guess there's really no point to agonizing so much over this.  I think it might be hard enough asking since I'm a pretty shy person anyway, but I'd really like someone to ask since no one really ever asks about Daniel and Sam at cons anyway (and if they do they probably get the "I hate all ships except D/V" type of response).  Again I mean no disrespect toward MS when I say all this.  It's just that all the highlighting of D/V at cons lately gets old to me and I'd like to ask about Daniel and his other friends.

*sigh* In the words of Sam Carter, "I know, I think too much."

So it looks like going to the Stargate Creation Con in NJ is quite possibly a go now.  Heard this weekend from [info]strider6 who lives about 20 min away (and whom I went with to the con last year) that she booked a room at the Crowne Plaza hotel.  We are thinking of going for Saturday and Sunday instead of just Sunday.  I'd love to see Paul McGillion since he's going on Sat.  Michael of course is supposed to appear on Sunday, if he doesn't have to cancel again (hoping not).  Luckily we have until Nov. 3rd to cancel the reservations if the guest list changes.  She's also looking into staying at the house of a friend who lives in NJ, I believe about 40 min. from the hotel.

I am at a quandary... What kind of ticket(s) should I get?  In talking to my mom (who can't go this year since she'll probably be working that weekend) she told me after what happened to me this summer I should have fun and do some splurging.  I got a Preferred ticket last year, with a reserved seat and autographs from everyone that worked out pretty well.  My pics didn't turn out the greatest and [info]strider6 with her general admission ticket ended up getting better ones than me since she snuck up to the front to get them  (when I went in 2004 they didn't let people do that... only let you go up to the front twice to get pics, and both times I ended up getting the back of people's heads).  It doesn't matter to me if I get autographs from everyone.  I have Don S. Davis' autograph as well as several of Michael's, but I'd like to get one from Paul (though I suppose I could just get a separate autograph ticket for him).  One thing I would really like to get is a photo op with Michael.  I did get one in 2004 but I was about a million miles away from him and I guess they changed it now because every one that I've seen he's got his arm around the lucky con goer, so I wouldn't mind getting a bit closer to him too ;)  Photo op tix are extra no matter which ticket you get so that's not much of an issue.

Definitely not going to get the Gold passes.  I don't need to go to any dessert party or anything like that.  But I am wondering if I should splurge and get the Preferred ticket(s).  I'm not going to decide right this minute since we still have to talk about whether or not we're going to be there for both days (and she wants to make sure no one cancels that would affect the decision).  Anyone have any advice?

Yay, I may be a victim of identity theft.  I just got a letter in the mail from my old university's health science center that, somehow, files including my personal information (which I'm assuming was in their archives) including name, social security # and university ID #, was made visible on the health science center's website.  They said there hasn't been any evidence of misuse yet, but recommended that I call a credit reporting agency to put a fraud alert on my credit report.  Just more BS for me to go through.

Oh, and I got a jury duty questionnaire in the mail the other day, too.  Aren't I lucky.  Because I haven't been called in quite a few years, I suspect they'll get me again and in time for my vacation in August as well.

Well, enough personal garbage.  On to my musings...

02 March 2007 @ 09:27 pm
So I had a few people at Gateworld telling me the other day that I should go to this year's DragonCon in Atlanta. I think it takes place during the last weekend in August. Michael and Lexa are supposed to be there, as well as Chris Judge. Someone told me that Dragon Con is not like Creation and I'd have better chance of getting closer to Michael...

*sigh* What I would give to attend this con. I was so disappointed that he cancelled out on the NJ con and I honestly have no idea if he'll be attending it this year too. Also supposed to appear at DragonCon are the TAPS guys (from Ghost Hunters). I've always wanted to meet them too so it'd be really cool. I'd probably be able to swing it monetarily (is that a word? lol), but the problem is that I hate traveling alone, especially over such far distances - let alone going to a con by myself. My friend Lori who I went with to the NJ con wants to go back there this year, but again I don't know for sure if MS will even be attending.

The only thing I MAY be able to do.... I found one of my old junior high school friends on myspace last year. She'd mentioned back then that she usually goes to DragonCon and if I went I'd "be in Stargate heaven." I COULD try emailing her and seeing if she's going, but if I remember she said she was getting married this summer, so it's a longshot.

*sigh* How I wish I could do this. I really don't like the way Creation does things and I'm betting DragonCon would be a lot better! Plus there are so many guests I'd like to meet there... so close and yet so far. If only this thing took place in NY!!
