Wow, it's been forever since I wrote fic. Forever. I have so many WIPs, I thought I was going to discipline myself and say no to any ficathons. Yeah, that sure worked out well. *grin* What can I say? I saw this prompt and fell in love with it.

So, here we go. This is my first attempt at writing Jack/Sara (well, I had some Jack/Sara in Tale of Spilled Coffee, but it was a secondary pairing and the story was AU anyway). Hopefully it comes off okay. *is somewhat nervous*

Title: Simply Amazing
Rating: PG
Pairing: Jack/Sara
Summary: A window into Sara's simply amazing life with Jack and Charlie.
Categories: Humor, Fluff
Spoilers/Timeline: None really. Set pre-series; Charlie is about 3 months old.
Word Count: 764
Disclaimer: I don't own them. Never did and never will. But they're fun to toy with, mwhahahahahahaha... *cough*... Okay, yeah...
A/N: Written for Prompt #20: "She knew what she was getting into when she married him, or at least she'd thought she did." Huge thanks to my beta, [info]amaranthtraces . Where would I be without you? ;)

Sara glances at the screen... )

Just got a heads up from a friend regarding the Isis Awards (awards for secondary pairings in Stargate fanfiction).  Three of my fics got nominated in the Daniel/Sam category...

Unexpected Souvenir in the Episode-Related category, Jell-o is Good for the Soul in the Humor category, and Five Times the Charm in the Romance/Fluff category.

And two of my other fics were nominated in the Cameron Mitchell/Vala Mal Doran category:

The Red Silk Nightie, and Tricks and Treats. (there is only one category in this pairing)

There is some pretty stiff competition in these categories so I'm not expecting to win, but I am honored to have been nominated.  And congrats to everyone else who was nominated! You all deserve it. :) *hugs*

See the nominees HERE.

I was going to post this tomorrow, but I don't know if I'll have time.

Title: Jell-o is Good for the Soul
Author: Jess
Rating: PG
Summary: Who ever thought a bowl of Jell-o could make things so much better?
Subjects: Friendship, Humor, Fluff
Spoilers: Children of the Gods. Takes place around mid season 1 (The Nox or thereabouts)
Disclaimer: I don’t own them.  Never have, never will.  I just like to borrow them for a while.  I’ll try to return them in good condition.
Author's Note: This is my offering for the 2008 Sam/Daniel-Thon (or here: [info]samdanielthon ).  The prompt I took was "jell-o."  Many thanks to Amaranth Traces for the beta work and for helping me overcome my fear of writing action scenes. *grin*  You rock!

Hope you liked. :) I'll probably be posting it on ff.net by tomorrow. And after that I'll have it up on my website.

I just have one other SG-related question... Have people already seen Continuum?? I keep seeing some of my flisters saying it's great etc. Where are y'all seeing it?! You're killing me here!  The only thing I've seen is the little video thingie (which is more like an interview/sneak preview thing) on the MGM website.  Suppose I should log on to Gateworld and I'll find more info there? I've stayed away from that site for too long... even though I no longer visit the Pond I'm missing the S/D thread and a few others (some of which aren't even Stargate related).

But geez, all you people teasing me with this... "it's great!" "I love it!" etc. etc. Gawd!!! *tsk*

ETA: never mind.  Seriously. Never mind.  Forget I asked. :)

Okay, I know I just posted, but I'm so pissed off right now.

Not sure if anyone remembers, but just over a year ago I got into this argument with this guy on ff.net who'd written an SG-1 fic.  It was Cam/Vala and he snuck a S/J wedding into it, even though he only said the story was C/V.  I brought it up in my review and said I wished he would have mentioned S/J as one of the pairings.  He got into a huge argument with me about Sam/Daniel being brother and sister, and that 1) S/J is CANON; and 2) S/J "IS the show."  And he gave me thousands of examples showing how Sam and Jack love each other from all the episodes.  We exchanged a couple of emails and he said we'll just agree to disagree and then dropped it.

I thought it was over, but every so often if he noticed me reviewing another Cam/Vala story, he'd review it as well and bring up S/D even if the story had nothing to do with it. Comments like "Sam and Daniel are brother and sister and I don't know why some disturbed, misguided souls see it as more than that."  I think the guy has a HUGE chip on his shoulder.

Well right now I just got a notification that he'd left me a review for one of my fics. I wrote a C/V drabble called The Red Silk Nightie. Here was his review:

"short, but good. Please, NO Sam/Daniel! When the hell did SD (shudder) become
a sinonym for CamVala?"

Okay...

Dear Idiot,

1. Yes it's short because it's a drabble.  A drabble is exactly 100 words long.
2. Um... *scans fic for the 100th time* Sam/Daniel? Was there any S/D in this piece? I sure as heck didn't see any.
3. Yes, you've told me countless times now of your discomfort with Sam/Daniel. I GET IT.
4. S/D is a synonym (nice spelling, BTW) for C/V? Really? That's news to me. How many stories do you see on ff.net that are S/D & C/V?

Now please haul your ass somewhere else and leave me alone.

I am seriously, SERIOUSLY, sick and tired of people like this moron with their never-ending quests to convert people to their ship that they see as the right one.  This guy has such a huge chip on his shoulder he's lopsided.  I guess he didn't learn from his little exchange with me last time.

I replied to him and said there was no hint of Sam/Daniel in the drabble.  I didn't even mention the characters (except that Vala had gone on a shopping trip with Sam - but there was no mention of Daniel whatsoever).  I said I know he hates S/D and he doesn't have to mention it all the time. I wish he'd keep it out when my story had nothing to do with it.  I said he's got a huge chip on his shoulder and I wish he could just let it go and we could agree to disagree.

Whatever happened to just not reading something if you didn't like it?  I know some very pleasant, respectful S/J shippers (many of them right here on LJ) but this jerk gives shipping as a whole a bad name.

I really am thinking of not posting my Stargate stories on ff.net anymore.  I'm tired of the harassment.

*headdesk*

*looks around* Hope I'm not stealing anyone's thunder by announcing this...

But the winners for these fanfic awards have been posted here

And the winners in the Sam/Daniel category are here

I want to congratulate all the winners... there were so many awesome fics that voting was really tough, but everyone really deserves it! Surprisingly I managed to pick up a few awards... I honestly was not expecting to win anything but I'm honored by the recognition!! So, thanks to anyone who might've voted for me. :)

Okay, after being annoyed at a few things in In the Company of Thieves, I whipped out this "fix-it" fic of sorts. It goes a bit beyond friendship but not much and not more than innocent kisses are shared, pretty much. This fic is also unbetaed. I just wanted to post something new here and wasn't sure when I'd get it back from my beta readers. Okay enough rambling, hope you like!

Fic: The Waterfall's Magic
Pairing: Sam/Daniel
Takes place in Season 10 (Spoilers for In the Company of Thieves and a few others)

This afternoon I attended a bridal shower for my cousin's (not the one who is in the hospital) fiancee. They had it at the Seventh Street Cafe in Garden City ...nice little place. My mom and grandmother were also invited so we all went together. The food was really good, although some things can be said about the service (which I'll get to later). Some of the games they played were so silly, though I guess that's the usual for things like showers. One was called "Toilet Paper Bride," where we had to divide up into teams and one person was selected to be a "model." The rest of the team had 10 minutes to create a "wedding gown" made of toilet paper on the model. The bride-to-be had to judge which "gown" was the best.

I guess you can imagine just who was selected to be my team's "model" (I am SO going to get my mother back for that one). It was a riot though and I was a giggling mess at one point (think it had to do with the 4 glasses of champagne punch I had... yes, like Daniel alcohol goes straight to my head, LOL). But everyone was giggling (and not all at me) so I didn't feel bad. Our team didn't win though, mostly because when they started they almost wrapped me up like a mummy and whenever I tried to walk, part of my "dress" would get torn or fall on the floor.

They also played Bridal Bingo, where each of the squares listed common items you'd receive at a shower. As she was opening her gifts, they'd call out what it was so we could check our cards. Again I didn't win, but I didn't expect to as one of the spaces I had was "car." But it was fun.

All in all, it was a great time. As for the service being something to be desired, the waitresses and waiters were all courteous and stuff, but a guy who worked there (I couldn't tell if he was the manager or not...but he wore a nice shirt, pants and tie, so...) was pretty rude. The restaurant has several rooms, some of which are down on a lower level. The restrooms are also located down there, although there was a handicap access one on our level, but it was just one toilet inside, not stalls like downstairs (and there was always a line for it). At one point, they closed off the bathroom downstairs for some reason (looked like they were just cleaning it up). Much later, before we were going to leave, I went down there because I figured they were done. The door was open and there was nothing blocking it, so I thought I could use it. The aforementioned guy suddenly calls out to me and says "Um, Ma'am, I would appreciate it if you would use the restroom upstairs. This one is closed." Really? Doesn't look like it to me. I was surprised at his rude, annoyed tone of voice so I just said "I'm sorry, I figured it was open since the door was open and the cleaning equipment from before was gone." He nearly cuts me off, annoyed again and says "No it is still closed, one of the toilets overflowed so we are waiting for someone to come in and fix it. So I would appreciate it if you would use the one upstairs!" The guy was acting like he wanted to argue with me when all I did was apologize and explain why I'd come down there. I guess it's not worth it to explain myself to people. I should have said "I thought it was open, there's no need to be so rude," but I only think of these things after the fact. *snort* Well, it wasn't such a big deal and didn't ruin the day for me or anything.

I was going to work on fanfiction today, but I'm a bit exhausted now (plus my feet hurt...it's been quite a while since I wore heels...ugh...). Will have to see if I can make time during the week for it. I hope everyone had a good weekend. :) Can't believe it's almost over already...
