Okay, is there anyone on here who is an LJ cut expert? I am going insane here trying to edit my post about the con from last night.  It covered Saturday's events and was very long and it looks like I pissed a few people off.

I did stick cuts in it, but that was for season 4 spoilers.  I know there are people on my flist who have not seen season 4 yet.  I did it to be courteous to them.  But apparently you cannot do a cut within a cut.  Right?  I just tried to do that and now some of my previous cuts have disappeared.  Nothing is working.

I did Saturday all in one post because I didn't want to have a gazillion posts dedicated to this con.  This is already part 6. 

So if any of you are experts, I would love to know just how you can do a cut behind a cut.  How would you do a post like this?  Should I just stick all the Q&A's behind cuts and just put "some season 4 spoilers" warning?  If I did, people who haven't seen season 4 would miss out on stuff that ISN'T spoilers. They wouldn't click on it because they know it contains spoilers somewhere.  I guess that is all I can do, though.

But seriously, I didn't mean to piss anyone off.  I've been on LJ over 2 years and I'm still not an expert on everything there is to know about it.  Perhaps you would like to point me to some "LJ Netiquette" site where I can educate myself better?  I really don't know the best way to do a post like this.  Wanting to stick long bits of info behind a cut, but having various info behind a cut already because it contains spoilers. 

If anyone defriends me because of that long post I guess there is nothing I can do.  But before you defriend me, maybe you could give me some tips on entries like this? And in a nice way, not an overly sarcastic one (not that I'm saying anyone would, but I've run into people like this before and they make me think I've committed some heinous crime... I'm already too hard on myself)?

Yay. I've just learned that livejournal has disabled the Rich Text Editor for users of Firefox version 2.0...whatever. Meaning me. So I've got to do my entries with the nifty, lovely HTML editor. Yay, making LJ cuts by hand is fun. Writing out all that HTML by hand is fun. Not.

And they "hope to re-enable it in the future." I guess the nasty buggers *are* gonna get me to download the piss-poor Firefox 3 after all. *fumes*

It's late and I'm feeling so tired, but I have to do one meme before turning in, so...

My username is jessm78 because "Jess" is my nickname, "M" is my last initial, and "78" is the year I was born.  Yes, very original.

2. My name is _____ because ______.

My name is Jess because... it's my nickname, and most people refer to me by it, so....... yeah, that's the best I can come up with. ;)

3. My journal is titled ____ because ____.

My journal is titled Jess' Fangirl Haven because I like to think of it as a cozy place for a fangirl to hang out at, and talk all kinds of fangirl talk.  No, seriously.

4. My friends page is called ____ because ____.

My friends page is called "Fellow Fandom Fanatics (Or Just Plain Fanatics)" because it goes with the whole "fangirl" theme.  At least I think it does. And basically everyone on my f-list is some kind of fan girl.  So I think it fits, sorta....

5. My default userpic is ____ because ____.

My default userpic at the moment is a textless icon of Dean and Sam Winchester.  Why? Because Supernatural is my main obsession at the moment.  If one of my other fandom corners (Stargate SG-1, Atlantis, Dr. Who, etc.) manages to out-obsess Supernatural for a bit of time, then I will change it.  Or if I think it's too drab and I want an icon with prettier colors or some snazzy text, then I'll just use a different Supernatural one.  But I'm not feeling very creative at the moment, and I still love the boys, so it stays. ;)

Well, here it is...

Something to reflect all my areas of fangirl squee.  Not perfect but better than the draft image I had.  Maybe I can even tweak this one a bit more, make the edges fade a bit so they blend in with the white background...  Or something like that.

Wondering if I should add a new mood theme too... have been thinking of a Supernatural one (either Sam&Dean or just Sam).  Though I still like the Daniel Jackson one, it's a bit plain-looking.  You can have more than one mood theme, can't you? You can only use one at a time, right?

Regarding the upcoming "LJ Strike," I am somewhat indifferent about it.  I had no idea what it was about until very recently.  I checked out the details...  and I still don't understand much of them.  They're taking away free accounts for new users? I can't believe that.  Seriously?  I can understand the ad-free ones, as nothing is really "ad free" anymore and mine certainly wasn't ad-free when I first got my basic account. I don't even remember having that option - though I've had my journal since mid-2006 so was this a later addition?

I checked out the referring post regarding the strike and I have to cease all posting beginning 8pm tonight till (I'm assuming) 8pm tomorrow.  Is this really going to make a big difference in the long run? Is it really going to make the people running LJ sit up and take notice?  I'm just asking a fair question here.  I don't know if I'll have anything to post about tonight into tomorrow anyway, so if I don't post at all it won't necessarily be me taking part in the strike.  Call me a traitor but I really don't have much inclination to do this, at least at this time.

I'm in the middle of updating my profile page, and I want to add a Supernatural (and J2, if possible) lovebar.  I've seen a few people with them, but I was wondering... has anyone made any to share? If so, could you point me to them? I would definitely give credit.

.... or I suppose I could just make my own too.

ETA: I've found some I like and I may make my own general SPN one.  But if you see any nice ones anyway that you'd like to give me a heads up on, please feel free. :)

Well here it is :D  Big *hugs* to orangeswirl19 for helping me tweak it and for the awesome Supernatural header (love that one scene in the S1 blooper reel *g*)!! :) I did make another header that I may use later, but I was looking for something with a winter theme and, as I just mentioned, that header is awesome :D

So, now I must do a little poll.  I've been thinking of changing my LJ theme a bit, to reflect my branching out into different fandoms.  Like with some kind of header that shows all areas of my fangirl-dom (probably w/pictures of Sam and Daniel, the SG-1 team in general, the Atlantis team, the Supernatural boys, and Dr. Who).  I've had this Science Twins theme for ages, I think just over a year now.  I love it but I'm thinking it may be time for a little change, just to reflect the other fandoms I'm also a part of.

So, what do you guys think?  Should I change my theme here or keep it the same?




Now I know next to nothing about customizing themes with all the fancy CSS jazz (a friend helped me with this current one), so if anyone could give me any advice or whatever on doing that I'd be grateful.

The things I think of on a cold, lazy day where I'm stuck in the house because it's so cold and there's a bit of snow outside (first snowfall of the season...which, oops, isn't quite winter just yet... oh I hope this winter isn't going to be brutal...)...

Okay, so this first one doesn't have anything to do with Daniel, but I need some input.  How many people on my F-list (or otherwise) have a paid account here?  Do you find it reasonable?  I'm starting to get a bit miffed that I cannot edit my comments after posting, don't always get email notifications when people comment on my entries, and that I'm only allowed 15 userpics.  Especially that last one... I want to have pics that reflect ALL areas of my fangirlishness (not a word, I know)...  so not just Daniel and Sam/Daniel but the SG team, Atlantis, Supernatural, and maybe even Dr. Who.  And I'm not in the mood to get rid of any of the ones I have now to make room for new ones.
