Chicago Con, Report and Pics, Last Part
Sorry I'm spamming so much today, lol

Here is the last part of my SPN con report.  This covers the photo op and autograph sessions on Sunday with Jared and Jensen. WARNING: some potentially annoying fangirling ahead.  Non SPN fans might want to turn back. *g*

The Jared photo ops were held right after the breakfast, so everyone had to race into the main theater room (they were first come first served, and they would call you by rows).  I was pretty much near the front of the line.  As I finally got into the photo op room, I saw Jared sitting on a stool for the photos and he was wearing a hat (the one he wore during the Q&A panels)... *sigh* I seriously almost asked him to remove it, but I just couldn't. Heh.  Anyway, when they were ready for me, Jared pretty much gave me a "Hi!" He had his arms out like he was ready to put them around me.  I asked him, "can I have a hug?"  He said, "A hug? Oh, sure!" and pulled me into a hug.  I can't even begin to describe how it felt being cuddled up to him.  And he smelled so good!! After the pic was taken, I gave him a little "thank you."  He seemed almost surprised that I thanked him.  He nodded, kind of widened his eyes and said, "of course!" He looked so much like a puppy, I almost had to bite my tongue to keep from calling him "puppy." LOL.

People were lining up for the J2 sandwich photo ops already when I got back.  And shortly thereafter they lined people up for the Jensen photo ops.  Again I was near the front of that line.  When it was my turn, Jensen was sitting on a stool like Jared.  He looked at me with this sort of grin and gave me a big "Heeeey!" in that lovely voice of his.  I kind of blurted out "hi!" He asked how I was doing and I told him "I'm doing good." That was all I could say because they went through them pretty quick and I really couldn't think of anything else to say. *g*  I didn't get too close to him, but I did put my hand up on his back.  After the pic was taken I thanked him as I did Jared, and he kind of shyly nodded and smiled.  (why didn't I get to close to him, you might ask? Well, there was a rumor going around that a fan had seen Jensen at the Chicago airport I believe, and had tried to attack him or something.  At one point earlier when I was in my seat, I heard one of the people who worked at the con talking behind the curtained off areas saying "oh, poor Jensen." I had no idea what that was about, but I told one of my friends that I'd heard it and she said it could have something to do with the rumor.  At the time, we thought it might have been true.  Luckily it wasn't.  But at the time, I was thinking it was and was a bit afraid to get too close to Jensen.  In fact when I had my hand up on his back, I was thinking "oh no, is this too much? I hope not."

After the panels ended, they quickly started the autograph session and moved people through pretty quickly, telling us the boys had a flight to catch back to Vancouver for filming.  Unlike the guests from Fri and Sat, they couldn't personalize, just sign their names.  Being in Row A I got up there pretty quick.  I really wanted to thank both of them so much for doing this show, that I really enjoy it and I've met so many nice people thanks to it... my 62 year old mom and I watch it together, it's "our time" we share, bla bla blah. But I decided to keep it short since Creation kept stressing they were in a hurry.  Jensen was given my photo and after he gave it back to me I said to him "thank you so much for coming." He was already signing the next person's photo so he wasn't looking at me, but he said "oh, thank YOU for coming."  He did that eyebrow thing that makes me weak... you know, where his forehead gets wrinkly and his eyebrows arch upward? I have a weird obsession with it, which will most likely come out when I start my Dean picspams. *g*

Recovering quickly from the eyebrow thingie (LOL), they gave Jared my Sam photo and as soon as he said it he went, "oh, awesome." Heh... it was the smiley Sam one from Playthings.  After he signed it, he gave it back to me and looked up at me, smiling.  I told him the same as I told Jensen, and he said (still looking at me)  "oh, no, thank YOU for coming."  I blurted out "I'm happy..." and I'm sure I looked like a loon standing there, so I quickly added "... to be here."  He nodded and said, "awesome."  Hee! My legs felt like they were made of jelly.  It was such a cool experience!

I'm almost ashamed to admit, but I was so overwhelmed by this con.  First in meeting the boys, and then kind of disappointed by the way things were so rushed.  And then hearing a lot of the people in my group talk about their experiences meeting them, most of which were not the first for them, and how they seemed so much better than mine.  A few people ended up giving them gifts.  I really wanted to do that but people who attended last year's Chicago con discouraged me from doing so.  "Creation made us dump them all on a table, we couldn't give anything to the boys, they probably didn't bring it back with t hem..."  I wanted to give them drawings, but then realized they get so many of those anyway, it wouldn't be anything new or special (and again a few people discouraged me from that as well).  But people still gave them things at this con.  After hearing all that, I felt like my experience couldn't hold a candle to theirs and it kind of soured things for me a little.  Like it wasn't really anything special.  They tried to console me and told me it was my first con, and I've since changed my mind.  I'm still a bit disappointed that I couldn't give them anything, and that my own personal experience with them felt rushed, even though many others didn't seem to have that.  But still I guess I should be happy that I did meet them, considering I probably won't be able to attend any other cons in the future...

So here are the autographs and photo ops.  Warning, I look bad.  Particularly bad in the Jensen one.  I swear I'm grinning like a loon.  I really don't look this bad in real life. Really.  I guess I just don't photograph too well sometimes.  Plus my hair looked like crp.  I had over blowdried it and it ended up looking really flat and straight (my hair is in reality on the wavy side).  Look at your own risk... or just ignore me and concentrate on Jensen, lol.

Lovely report, hun. By the way, you look absolutely adorable in those pictures, so don't ever let anyone tell you different.

As for you experience with the 'Jensen picture', I apologize on behalf of the entire fandom. The wank just got out of control here, and it breaks my heart because it fixed it to where you were afraid to get too close to Jensen.

Aw, thank you so much, I really appreciate it :)

No apologies necessary. I wasn't even aware of the wank. When I got back home and caught up on LJ, I learned about it and I see it got crazy. It's really sad when that happens.

I felt bad but I was glad to know it didn't really happen and was just wank.

But thanks all the same, hon. :) *hugs*

Aww, they're such sweet guys! And you're adorable, and very sweet to give Jensen some space. :)

And hey, don't feel bad about your experience of meeting them... dude, JARED HUGGED YOU. Seriously, what more could you possibly want out of life? :P

Aw, thank you so much! :) They really are sweet guys. I had a blast meeting them.

LOL... you got a point there :P The Jared hug was so worth it... I couldn't speak for a while afterwards. My roomie had to bring me back down to earth, lol

Oh, it definitely is! Just as the breakfast was ending, they told us the photo ops were starting and everyone just dashed from the room. I took my time but I still was near the front of the line. For a while I kept thinking "I wish I was further back!" lol

Yeah, I think you're probably right about that. If only I'd known that the rumor about Jensen was just fandom wank, then I wouldn't have worried so much.

Awww... thank you so much! I really appreciate it :)

Awwww, I love your photo ops, they're awesome! I have to say I was feeling the excitement while reading your experience with Jared at the photo op, I so wish I had thought of asking him for a hug. Oh well still, I got to talk to him a little and took the time to touch his arm after the pic. *squeee*
You know it was my first convention too and you are not the only one who felt that everything was super rushed.
Oh the t-shirt you're wearing on you photos, I have the same one, I bought it at the con. :D
Thanks for sharing all your pics and giving such great recaps of the convention. It's nice to finally see you and you look great in the Jensen photo, love your smile hun!! :D

Aw thank you so much, hon! And you know that I love yours too. :) I almost wasn't going to ask him for one, but everyone kept telling me "do it, do it! He loves to give hugs!" And it's cool that you got to talk to him and touch his arm! *squeees with you*

Yeah, I'm glad that I wasn't the only one who felt things were super rushed there.

*grin* Awesome! I bought that one at the con, too. :D I'd only brought one shirt with me (which I wore on Saturday), and I wanted to have another one for Sunday.

I'm happy to share. :) And thanks so much for your kind words! *hugs*

Hun!! Don't care about other people's experiences. Your memories are special because they are yours and it is because you got to spend a special time with them and no one can take that away from you and the fun you have had. Love the photo ops!! Looking good with both guys!! :D

Jess your report is fabulous and your photo ops are gorgeous.....

As for other people's Con experiences being better...well, imho, I've found that those who "shout loudest and longest" are probably only doing it for attention and are using their so-called "better than yours" stories to draw more attention to themselves than the actual guests....having spotted more than my fair share of those at Stargate Cons who use the situation to feed their own egos, or boost their status amongst fans or, heaven forbid amongst the stars themselves, I can say that your Con experience sounds to me just wonderful.....first cons in a fandom are terryfying and it's only after they are over that you realise how wonderful it's all been and how many fantastic friends you've made....

So, stick your head up, shoulders out and oooze that confidence girl!!....

Your Supernatural Con experience was blooming marvellous, you look radiant and you met the guys!!....and don't let anyone else tell you otherwise or they'll have me, (and a Very Angry Whisk) to deal with!!!...

Deeds xx

Thanks, and same to you!! :)

The hardest thing to do at these cons is 1)learning to take your time (within reason) with the guys because for all that Creation touts "non-rushed", it isn't true, and 2)NOT to compare your experience with everyone else's. These conventions are not only a chance to meet the guys and other fans, they are a not-so-subtle competition, seeing who's experience "outshines" every other fan's. I agree with the people that are saying to make these experiences YOURS. No one had an experience just like you. That moment between you and the boys that was exclusive, in that time frame their attention belonged to YOU. THAT is the thing to remember.

I think I saw you at the con, btw. : ) You look very familiar.

And just for the record. . .they do get their gifts. If you feel like giving them one at a future con, go for it.

Conventions can be very overwhelming the first time around. All the energy and people and nerves. . .give it another go. :D The nerves won't go away, but you won't be so distracted by wondering what to expect.

Kam :D
jessm78: Jared & Jensen: Chicago Con 2008jessm78 on December 10th, 2008 08:04 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I have to admit I had to laugh at the "non-rushed" part in the program. I've attended a few other Creation cons before, and while they didn't seem as big a deal as the SPN con, things were still moderately rushed.

Thanks for all the advice. :) You're right - there's really no point in comparing my experience with everyone else's. It was a unique experience and I have to say it was one I will never forget.

Awesome! :) Where were you sitting?

Good to know! Heh, when I was at the airport for my flight home, I saw a book Jared might like. Too bad I didn't see it when I had first arrived!

To be honest I might go for another con, maybe if they do another con in Cherry Hill next year (it's too soon after Chicago this time around... and my credit card is just starting to recover, LOL). Or if they do another EyeCon I'd love to go. I've heard some pretty good things about it.

Thanks again for the advice! I love your icon... just out of curiosity, where is the pic that you used for it from?

You look lovely! I guess we all think we look awful in our photos, but people who tell me they look bad, don't, at least IMHO. And you look so cute with Jared! I understand what you mean about Jensen, who had this "look, don't touch" appearance t his posture, but I still put my arm around him and leaned in close. Hey, for the money we paid for those photographs, we should at least get a hug, if that's what we want. Love, Robin
jessm78: Jared Padalecki: Chicago photo op 08jessm78 on December 12th, 2008 04:46 pm (UTC)
Thank you kindly for the compliments! It seems that way, doesn't it? I've seen people posting their photo ops all over the place and saying they look awful, when they certainly don't IMHO. I admit I am very partial to the Jared picture. :)

If only I had your reasoning when I went in for the Jensen photo! Oh, well. If there's a next time, I'll know better!
