Robin (lovetheguys ) and I ended up getting to the airport a little late thanks to an accident on the highway. I had to check 1 bag and they said it'd be late and might end up on a later flight. So of course I'm all worried because who knows when "later" is going to be, and if they'd lose my bag. Luckily it ended up on the same flight. We made it to sunny Orlando and met our friends at the airport.
Florida, here we are!!
Heh... sorry, I hadn't been there in years. It was great to go back. We got there around 10:15am and didn't have to collect our badges and etc for the con until 4pm so we had a lot of time to kill. Had lunch in the mall food court, then went back to the hotel and found a few friends. Got our badges and other tickets and checked out the dealers' tables.
That night Alisa (my roomie) and I attended the cocktail party. We saw Gabe Tigerman, Julie McNiven, Chad Lindberg, and Jason Manns there (Jim Beaver was supposed to be there, but I think his flight got in quite late). Alisa and I talked to Jason for a little bit. It was cool hanging out with the guests. I overheard Julie talking about some other shows like Prison Break, and about Kim Manners (she mentioned he didn't look good the last time she saw him :(). She also said something about her scene with Jensen in (highlight for spoilers) heaven and Hell. That he has such a big back. *g*
We didn't attend the Fall of Envy concert, mostly because we were just so tired from being up so early. I'd heard they were good, though.
We drove to IHOP for breakfast. Which is where we had breakfast every morning. Heh.. The con opened at 10am every morning. We were in the dealers' room when a guy at a vendor table told us "did you hear that the angel guy had to cancel?" We were like, "what???" He said it again and then told us we didn't hear it from him. We didn't know what to think but hoped it was a rumor. Right before Jim's Q&A, Dizzy (the con emcee) announced that Misha did have to cancel because of filming. They'd given him an ultimatum that he had to be there, or else they'd shut production down for a week. Dizzy mentioned they'd try to set up a conference call with him on Sunday, with a video link or something so we could still get to talk to him (that never happened, though).
Jim really tried to make up for it, though, and I think he did an awesome job. Here's his Q&A (cut for space):
Jim came out at the end of Dizzy's announcement. Everyone cheered for him and he did his famous "idjits" line. *G* We was wearing his "I do my own stunts" t-shirt and his "Damfino" hat (and yes, someone did ask him what it meant... his explanation gets me every time. Hee).
He was talking about Bobby's place, that it never looks the same and he'll find a whole new piece of furniture in it that he didn't know existed before, or things will be rearranged. He talked about one of the eps where he was flung into a bookcase (he thought it was Devil's Trap). Someone asked if he did that himself and when he said no, they pointed to his shirt. He said "it's not my shirt."
He was asked how Maddie (his daughter) was. He said she was doing good but she hates that he works in Vancouver. She told him to tell his bosses that they need him to work "here" (meaning where she is). Awww. Everytime he said something like that, the audience was filled with "awwwww's." Jim would mimic us and basically told us to cut it out. *g* Someone asked him if she watches any of the shows he does. He said she doesn't watch Supernatural, that it's on too late or something. But he said once she saw him in something on TV, maybe Deadwood, with the sound down, and she was freaking out.
He was asked about his engagement to Jared (that they joked about at a prior con) and he said something like "asking about my daughter is one thing. But now it's personal. What Jared and I have is special." LOL. Someone asked if Jared's grabbed his toes again or anything like that. He said that ever since that hospital scene (from Dream a Little Dream of Me, when Jim was in the bed and Jared was grabbing his toes to make him laugh), he doesn't let Jared come near him.
He talked about Kim Manners a little and said some very nice things.
A young girl asked what his favorite animal is. He said human beings and elephants, then said that kitties are nice, too. He asked her what her favorite animal was and she said "leopards." He asked if she said "leopards" or "lepers, 'cause those are two very different things." It was cute. :)
He'd mentioned that he'd basically finished filming his scenes for the final episode of the season. He wouldn't go into what they were, but from the way he was talking it sounded like he would be back next season (at least I'm really hoping so!!!!). There was some hoopla over something he'd said on his Facebook about talking about a brother and a lot of people thought he was talking about SPN. He insisted he wasn't necessarily talking about the show.
That's about all I remember from his Q&A on Saturday. He did another one on Sunday, but I wasn't there because I had no idea when it was. A lot of things were so up in the air since the schedule changed. But I heard bits and pieces from those who had attended. He'd said something about the boys doing the emotional scenes, like Jared, and how after such a heavy emotional scene they'd just go back to being themselves like they'd shake it off, and he still didn't know how they could do it.
Julie McNiven came after Jim. Let me say that whatever your opinion of Anna may be, Julie is a sweetheart and it was a pleasure seeing her.
Right away I took a bit of a liking to her because she said she's originally from Massachusetts (Amherst, I think), and she went to school in Salem. Part of my family is from up that way, and my dad still has an old friend in Salem. *squeee*
Anyway, she was sweet, and she got a little coy when she was asked about (highlight for episode 4x10 spoilers) the scene from Heaven and Hell with Jensen, especially when she kissed him. She was asked if she really liked it, and like I said she got a little coy but yeah, did admit that it was nice.
She said she does watch the show and has enjoyed it from the beginning. She's a real sci-fi girl, ever since she caught her family watching stuff like Star Trek.
Of course someone brought up the fact that many fans seem to really dislike female characters, especially when they're first introduced (hey, not me! I don't hate all of them. I quite enjoyed Meg, found Jo annoying but didn't despise her... it's just the current Ruby who gets under my skin... but that's just me, YMMV). She said she didn't know there were people who disliked the female characters much, but she doesn't let it bother her.
She was asked if the boys ever played pranks on her. The answer was no, but she said it's hard for her to keep a straight face when she's doing serious scenes with them. They make her crack up.
She talked about how big Jared is, and shared a story about Harley. She said he came over to her and wanted her to pet him, so she bent down and petted his head, and he did this cute thing where he tilted his head and kind of stuck his tongue out (she demonstrated for us). Jared saw it and said something funny, she couldn't remember exactly what it was, but it was something like, "that's my dog!" She said Harley is huge and he's the perfect dog for Jared since he's huge, too. *g*
This was her first con experience and she said she was having a good time. That was nice to hear. I think what also helped was that the turnout ended up being so small. I think there was less than 200 people there.
After Julie's panel I went to get an autograph from Jim (I'd exchanged my Misha autograph ticket for one with Jim). He asked how I was doing and if I was having fun. I told him I was and that this was my first EyeCon. He told me that he loves EyeCon, it's the type of con he prefers doing and he said everyone involved was doing a great job. I gave him my pic of Bobby for him to sign. He looked at it and said "Hey, I know this guy. I think it's my grandfather." *g*
At one point I was out in the mezzanine (outside the main con room) when two young girls about 7 or 8 years old came racing around, and Gabe was racing with him. It was so cute. :)
Jason Manns had his Q&A after Julie.
I'm a little fuzzy on this, but here's what I remember. He talked about Jensen doing Eye of the Tiger after Yellow Fever and said that it really made him laugh. He also mentioned taking a road trip with Jensen... can't remember exactly what he said about it. He talked about wanting to write an episode of Supernatural, too. He brought his guitar with him and decided he'd sing and play a little for us. He just played a short medley of stuff, in particular "Sitting on the Dock of the Bay."
After Jason came Gabe's Q&A. I swear, this guy is so freaking adorable! I just can't say how adorable he is!!
In no particular order, here is a run-down of Gabe Cuteness:
At one point he was asked that, if a cartoon version of his life was made, which character would play him? He basically said Kermit ("Kermie"... teehee) from Muppet Babies. Some girl gave him a phone with the Muppet Babies theme as a ringtone and he started singing some of it! *dies from cute* He was then amazed that he still knew it, and said something about spending a half hour Saturday mornings watching it with Nerds candy.
He was asked if he could be Sam or Dean, which one would he be. He said, "whose panel is this?" *g* Then he said he'd want to be Sam because then he'd be able to dunk a basketball (since Sam is so tall, LOL).
He mentioned the movie he'd been working on, called "Skills Like That."
He was asked about Andy and his mind control powers, if that's a good superpower or would something else be better. He mentioned a debate he was having with some guy (can't remember who) about superpowers (they were talking about the movie Jumper and if teleportation or mind control was better). Some girl in the audience mentioned something like, "if you can teleport, why are you flying in a plane?" He thought that was good and decided to call the guy up right there. He got his voicemail, but left a message saying that very same thing, while all of us cheered.
At times he was sitting perched up on the stool with his legs up. He said he has trouble sitting still on a stool, or something like that. Heh.
He was asked about what he'd said at the Cherry Hill con, about Andy and Ash being an angel and devil on Dean's shoulders. Chad was in the audience and came up onto the stage with Gabe to do a demonstration. I can't remember exactly what they did, but it was hilarious. And I'm sure someone's got videos of it. *g*
Someone asked him that if they could bring Andy back, how would he want it done. He said he'd like Sam to have some visions of him, like to feel guilty that he didn't save him in AHBL part 1 (he said something like "he was right there, he could've fixed the salt line!" hee...). Then when he'd have the visions, Andy would pop out and say something like "Dude, it's fine" or "Dude, it's okay." Aw. :)
That night was the banquet. Alisa and I were going to sit with Jason but he didn't show up. Then a con lady told us that he couldn't come because something came up. But we found out later that Jason wasn't there because he didn't know he was supposed to attend. Because they didn't tell him about it - they'd only told him he was supposed to do a Q&A and a concert. *facepalm* Alisa was upset and just up and left. I stayed and ate dinner (which to be honest wasn't that good) and talked with the other people at our table. On the way back to my room I passed Gabe and he gave me a little " Hi." I think he was in a hurry to get back to the banquet. That night Jason's concert ended around midnight and we went back up to our room.
We didn't really do much. Like I said earlier, Jim did another Q&A but we didn't know exactly when it was taking place. Robin, Amy (our other friend), and I ended up relaxing outside by the pool for a while. At one point we saw Gabe racing the two little girls through the mezzanine again, and he even went after them with silly string!! LOL. He was spraying them with it and got some on the floor. Robin scolded him with "look at that mess!" and he told her "I don't know who did that." *g*
At one point I bumped into my friend Vani ("Ceriniel" on supernatural.tv). We got a drink at the bar in the hotel restaurant and noticed Gabe, Julie and Jason sitting there eating lunch. We didn't want to bother them, so we had our drinks and waited a little while. Then we workedu p the nerve to go over and talk to them. We asked how they were doing and they said good, and Gabe said something like, "well, I'm still dead, but..." *g* Vani had her camera and asked them if we could get a pic taken with them. They agreed, so I took one of Vani with them and she took one of me. And here it is (bah, don't mind how bad I look, focus on the lovely people surrounding me... lol):
Chad Lindberg had his Q&A later in the day, but we missed it. Although something interesting happened, and my roomie relayed it to me:
Apparently, Chad was asked if the boys every pranked him and he said no. But he mentioned that during one of the photo ops, he'd done this superman leap and knocked into Froggy (the EyeCon photographer)'s equipment. After a while, Froggy came into the room and asked Gabe if he was going to pay for the stuff he broke. Gabe kinda went "yeah dude, don't worry, I'm doing a Q&A now." Then Froggy started walking away but said something about Chad sucking as an actor, that no wonder he wasn't called back to do the next Fast and Furious movie, because his character sucked. Chad threw down his microphone and leapt off the stage. He and Froggy were going at it on the floor, like they were beating each other up. Dizzy and Kenny ran over to try to break it up and they all went outside the room. Everyone in the room was in shock. Then Dizzy came back in and said something like "well that was awkward. What a way to close out the weekend." Then suddenly Chad and Froggy came back in with big smiles on their faces, and were all, "WE PUNKED YOU!!"
Lots of people were laughing and thought it was great, but Alisa actually got upset. I found her in our room crying and asked her about it. I guess it really shocked her, and she was disappointed enough already about the weekend. She kept telling me she didn't think it was funny, but then conceded that maybe it's just guy mentality.
That night we decided to go to Outback for our last dinner together in Orlando. And that pretty much closed out the weekend.
Like I said, we were really disappointed about the fact that Jared and Misha had to cancel but we still tried to have fun. I think we did. It was great hanging out with my fellow fans, and the other guests were great too. I'm hoping that if they do another EyeCon they will be able to get Jared. That's all I'll say about it, I want to think positive.
I hope everyone who is going to LA has a great time this weekend. :)
Oops, almost forgot, here is a link to all my pics. If you want to take any of these to use for anything, that's fine. Just please let me know you're taking them and credit me. I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!
