SPN #9x10 Road Trip (episode review)

Poor Dean in the beginning. You can tell he feels that Kevin's death is on him (and he even says so in the end).

Aha, so we get to see Gadreel's prior vessel again. :)

Can I say how creepy Gadreel!Sam looks? He's got a near constant bitchface going. And even when he lets it slip when he visits the other angel (whose name escapes me at the moment) as he's introduced to the guy's little daughter, it is still pretty unnerving.

Crowley fails to disappoint yet again. Love his comment about Cas' car: "What are you, a pimp?" Lol

Ugh, I hate the implication that that demon possessed woman killed the little dog, even though as soon as I saw the dog & how suspicious the woman looked, that would be it.

Was nice that they could kinda sorta trust Crowley this time. Now it looks like there is going to be a face off between him and Abbadon. Which truth be told I find more interesting than the whole angel war thing. So yeah, I said it. Let the stoning begin. LOL

I found this episode to be kind of heart-breaking. First about Dean's guilt over Kevin being killed, and then when it seemed that he wanted to kill Gadreel even if it meant killing his brother (though I liked what Cas told him, that Dean had done all this for the right reasons). It was also heartbreaking when Gadreel told Dean he had Sam locked away in a dream where he thinks they're on a hunt. Was also heartbreaking in the torture scene, and how Dean had to leave because he couldn't bear to see his brother that way.

One thing I'm confused about...Kevin was the last prophet? I thought that once he died, another would take his place. So did Metatron change this?

Anyway, we've got Crowley now inside Sam's head telling him to fight Gadreel. I really liked his interaction with Sam here, that he was intent on helping him.

It seems my theory about Sam's hair this season is panning out. I've griped before about his hair looking so stark, all pushed back from his face and looking greased back or plastered down. I figured Gadreel had something to do with it and in a way it did make him look more ruthless I guess? But notice that when Gadreel was not in control, Sam's hair looked better. In the Sam's-head scape with Crowley and then at the end, his hair looked more natural like we're more used to seeing it. Maybe now his hair will start to look better? I guess we'll know for certain in the episodes to come, but I really hope so. *grin*

Love that Sam was finally able to eject Gadreel. But was he healed enough to do so? Did Cas heal him afterwards (I know he did from the torture he endured as Gadreel, but did he heal the rest of him?) And what about having his tattoo burned off? Is Sam now in danger of being possessed again, or do you think he'll just get the tattoo done again?

The end was heart-breaking too. Sam feeling like he killed Kevin, but Dean insists it's on him, and that he'll hunt down Gadreel alone because people can't be close to him. Such an emotional ending. And Dean just drives away, leaving Sam and Cas there. I wonder how this is going to be resolved, and to what extent.

I actually thought Dean was doing his martyr bullshit, "it's all my fault!" and pre-empting Sam from expressing his rage. Sam was possessed by Lucifer, and look how well that turned out for him.

Sam was fine with letting Dean go, and I was fine with Sam letting him go. As to why Cas didn't go with Dean, he probably feels Sam needs protection right now.

And yes, Sam had better get that tattoo, pronto!

Yeah I was thinking of Sam's comment at the end about "don't go thinking that's the problem because it's not." I don't even know if Sam even wanted to express rage there, to me he seemed mostly sad about being betrayed. And the way he said "just go'" at the end seemed like he just sad but thinking they will come back to this later. Or maybe I'm just being overly Pollyanna-ish.

But yeah, I was fine with that too, and it think you're right about why Cas stayed.

Cas stayed because as he told Sam: He'll have to heal him in stages from his (I'm guessing) injuries suffered during the trials. So it looks like (to me) that Gadreel did some healing whilst he was in Sam and that it was enough for a) Sam to survive without an angelic pacemaker and b) for Cas to do the rest of the healing.

Metatron said that he "flipped a switch in heaven" and that there will be no more prophets.

And ITA on your Sam!Hair theory.

Ah, that's right, I almost completely forgot about that. Yeah, I would guess that Gadreel had done at least a bit of healing.

I almost missed that line... I thought he'd said something about that, but I didn't remember what it was referring to. But that makes sense, thanks. :)

:D I won't spoil but in the quick sneak peek for next week's, it already looks a bit better to me. :)

It was a good episode but Dean really pissed me off. No I'm sorry to Sam or anything, just oh poor me everyone I love go's bad blah blah. Was rolling my eye's so much. Seriously poor Sam has JUST found out Kevin is dead, that he was possessed etc and Dean's like well I have to go. >=/

I will only feel better about the whole thing IF we get a scene with Sam and Dean actual talk about Dean lying to Sam AGAIN (If this was the other way round Sam would be getting so much hate.) and Sam can show his angry about it. If the writers just have Sam forgive Dean etc I will fucking scream.

I know what you mean, hon. It did feel like something was missing in that regard at the end. I'm only hoping that by Sam telling Dean to go and Dean going, that it will mean they will finally talk about it and not gloss over how Sam is feeling about the whole thing. If they don't it'll be yet another ridiculous way the writers/PTB have dropped the ball.

Sam's line "don't think thats the problem" or something like that makes me hopeful we will get a sam/dean scene.
